FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Feb. 29 doesn't come around too often.
So local kids are taking advantage of the day while they can, especially because they haven't celebrated their actual birthdays since 2016.
"Leap Day" is an extra day added to the month of February roughly every four years for the purpose of keeping our calendars balanced.
People born on the "caboose day" present a funny story when telling people their literal age since their birthday won't exist for three years between their last.
Now 12-year old Olivia Lynch says, "I just turned 12 but technically I'm three...and my parents make fun of me."
This is often the case for many Leap Day babies, who just might remain in the single digits for their lifetime.
