FORT RECOVERY, Ohio (WFFT) -- Counties in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio are recovering from a tornado earlier Friday.
The tornado struck at 4 p.m. in Jay county southeast of Geneva, IN. and traveled east to Mercer County at around 4:20 p.m.
Cpt. Doug Timmerman with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office says the majority of the damage occurred on Burrville Rd. and Fort Recovery Minster Rd.
Barns and houses had their roofs ripped off.
Power lines were torn down leaving many without power.
Tractors were turned upside down.
Debris littered the grass and streets.
Farmers have been working together to transfer cattle out of damaged barns.
Deputies have been shutting down roads with heavy damage in order to clean up without traffic getting in the way.
Mercer County Sheriff’s Office reports no injuries at this time.
Cpt. Timmerman says he will assess more of the damages Saturday morning at 7:30.
