FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Indiana Department of Transportation held one of its statewide hiring fairs in Fort Wayne Thursday afternoon.
They are looking for Highway Maintenance Technicians.
Although the number of people at the fair was low, it was not zero.
INDOT Public Relations Director Hunter Petroviak says the main purpose of the fair is to close the gaps within the job.
Because of the pandemic, many jobs are still without workers.
“It’s just one of the struggles that many companies are seeing throughout the area, they need workers," Petroviak said. "With that being said, INDOT jobs haven’t come to an end, they haven’t gone undone so we’ve been able to do what we need to do with the amount of people." "We’re just ready to bring some more people aboard.”
Highway Maintenance Technician's hourly pay starts at $20 with a valid CDL and $19 without.
INDOT leaders say they will continue to have hiring fairs in the future.
