FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — New manufacturing jobs are on their way to Fort Wayne, thanks in part to rising ice cream sales.
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream announced Thursday plans to add a new production line to the Edy’s/Dreyer’s and Drumstick factory on Wells Street.
Dreyer’s expects to have the line running by April 1.
This same factory had to cut jobs in August 2019 when their product demand was low.
But HR Manager Nicholas Gerardot says an increase in ice cream demand has allowed the company to invest in 64 new jobs.
“We’re really growing and growing. We’re investing up to $30 million this year just to be able to support that growth and continue to supply that stability, job opportunity for our community here in Fort Wayne,” Gerardot said.
