ISDH: Allen County among 9 Northeast Indiana counties in yellow level, 4 in blue

As of March 15, no county in northeast Indiana is in the orange or red advisory levels for risk of COVID-19 spread, and more continue to drop down to the lowest advisory level.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Several Counties across Northeast Indiana have seen their risk of spreading COVID-19 slightly increase, according to data from the state health department.

Compared to last week's data, all counties across Indiana, are either in the blue or yellow advisory levels, which are considered to be the lowest risk for community spread of COVID-19.

The Indiana State Department of Health advisory levels refer to the current guidelines the county must follow.

A county must remain at a lower Weekly Two-Metric Score for two consecutive weeks in order to move down to a lower advisory level.

There are nine counties in northeast Indiana that are in the yellow category, which is the second-lowest advisory level measured by the state.

Allen, LaGrange, Adams, Blackford and Wells counties saw their advisory levels increase to yellow this week.

In our region, only four counties are now in the lowest advisory level, blue.

Noble County was the only local county to improve from yellow to blue.

Here's the local advisory level breakdown by score:

Blue (Metric score from 0-0.5):

  • Jay County
  • Noble County
  • Wabash County
  • Grant County

Yellow: (Metric score from 1-1.5):

  • Allen County
  • LaGrange County
  • Blackford County
  • Wells County
  • Adams County
  • Steuben County
  • DeKalb County
  • Huntington County
  • Whitley County

Orange (Metric score from 2-2.5):

  • None

Red (Metric score of 3):

  • None

Here's a breakdown of each color category and its restrictions:

“Red” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 25 percent indoor capacity and 50 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Daily customer attendance logs must be kept at these locations and held for 30 days.
      • Bar seating is not allowed.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 25 people or 25 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • All recreational sports leagues will be canceled.

“Orange” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 50 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 25 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 50 people or 50 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue with up to two spectators allowed for each participant.

“Yellow” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 75 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 25 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 100 people or 75 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue at 25 percent spectator capacity.

“Blue” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 100 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 50 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 250 people or 100 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue at 50 percent spectator capacity.
