ISDH: 6 NE Indiana counties in yellow level, 6 in blue, Blackford County moves to orange

As of March 22, no county in northeast Indiana is in the red advisory level for the highest risk of COVID-19 spread, and more continue to drop down to the lowest advisory level. Blackford County is the only county in the state now in the orange advisory level.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Several Counties across Northeast Indiana have seen their risk of spreading COVID-19 slightly increase, meanwhile one county is now considered to be in the second-highest risk category, according to data from the state health department.

Compared to last week's data, 12 counties across Indiana, are either in the blue or yellow advisory levels, which are considered to be the lowest risk for community spread of COVID-19.

The Indiana State Department of Health advisory levels refer to the current guidelines the county must follow.

A county must remain at a lower Weekly Two-Metric Score for two consecutive weeks in order to move down to a lower advisory level.

There are now six counties in northeast Indiana that are in the yellow category, which is the second-lowest advisory level measured by the state.

Only Jay County saw its advisory level increase from blue to yellow this week.

In our region, six counties are now in the lowest advisory level, blue.

This includes DeKalb, LaGrange and Adams counties which saw their levels improve from yellow.

Blackford County is the only Indiana county currently in the orange advisory level.

Here's the local advisory level breakdown by score:

Blue (Metric score from 0-0.5):

  • Noble County
  • Wabash County
  • Grant County
  • DeKalb County-
  • Adams County-
  • LaGrange County-

Yellow: (Metric score from 1-1.5):

  • Allen County
  • Wells County
  • Steuben County
  • Jay County-
  • Huntington County
  • Whitley County

Orange (Metric score from 2-2.5):

  • Blackford County-

Red (Metric score of 3):

  • None

Here's a breakdown of each color category and its restrictions:

“Red” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 25 percent indoor capacity and 50 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Daily customer attendance logs must be kept at these locations and held for 30 days.
      • Bar seating is not allowed.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 25 people or 25 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • All recreational sports leagues will be canceled.

“Orange” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 50 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 25 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 50 people or 50 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue with up to two spectators allowed for each participant.

“Yellow” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 75 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 25 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 100 people or 75 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue at 25 percent spectator capacity.

“Blue” Status:

  • Restaurants, bars and gyms may operate at 100 percent indoor capacity and 100 percent outdoor capacity.
    • Bar seating is limited to 50 percent capacity.
  • Social gatherings and events are limited to 250 people or 100 percent venue capacity, whichever is fewer.
  • Recreational sports leagues may continue at 50 percent spectator capacity.
