BLUFFTON, Ind. (WFFT) – The Indiana Department of Transportation and Wells County are hosting a public hearing to inform residents and receive their feedback about the proposed Local TRAX project next week.
INDOT says the project is relocating the Hoosier Highway corridor in order to eliminate the existing at-grade crossing on Hoosier Highway and allow trucks to avoid the crossing on County Road 200 South.
Leaders say an additional benefit of the realignment is that two additional railroad crossings, one on C.R. 250 South and one on C.R. 300 South, can also be eliminated.
The public hearing will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 6 p.m. at the Wells County 4-H Community Building.
The 4-H building is located at 1240 4-H Park Road in Bluffton.
The proposed construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2023.
