Huntington teenager dies in BMX crash in Illinois

USA BMX said Carson Stoffel, 15, died Sunday after a crash.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WFFT) - A Huntington teenager died during a BMX race in Rockford, Illinois.

USA BMX said Carson Stoffel, 15, died Sunday after a crash.

Stoffel was a coach for Fort Wayne BMX and was a student at Huntington County Community Schools.

HCCS said it is working with the family and will release more information when it becomes available.

In a statement USA BMX said it "will do everything to assist and support them through this difficult time."

"Carson absolutely loved riding his bike and being with his friends," said Jake Stoffel, Carson's dad.

USA BMX worked with Rockford BMX for 33 years on the Midwest Nationals.

Funeral arraignments for Carson haven't been released at this time.
