HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WFFT)- Crews responded a little after 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Police units were advised upon arrival that two people were unaccounted for.
Huntington police kicked in the rear door of the structure but were unable to enter due to the intense flames. Fire
fighter attempts to enter the home were also unsuccessful.
When police arrived, they found the bodies of one adult female and a minor child.
One woman and two children were able to escape by jumping from a second story window.
The woman suffered a fractured ankle and smoke inhalation and was transported to Lutheran Hospital in
Fort Wayne along with the two children.
Several cats and dogs were inside at the time of the fire and also died.
The cause of the fire is still ongoing with the Huntington Fire Department and Indiana State Fire Marshall's office.
A cause and manner of death as well as the identity of the deceased will be released after family has been
notified and at the completion of autopsy.
