HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WFFT) — A construction worker in southwest Huntington County is dead after an incident Tuesday morning.
First responders in Huntington County were called to the area of State Road 105 at the Salamonie Lake Bridge in Polk Township at around 7:22 a.m. Tuesday after scaffolding gave way.
Emergency personnel arrived and were directed to the water where the man was spotted entering.
Indiana Department of Natural Resource Law Enforcement Division as well as their dive team arrived and recovered the victim in about 39 feet of water.
Authorities said the man was wearing a required harness but was not tethered at the time of the incident.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday.
The victim's name will be released after next of kin is notified.
The investigation into the incident continues with the Indiana Department of Natural Resource Law Enforcement Division, Indiana OSHA and Huntington County Coroner’s Office.
