INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma says he's aiming for May's special legislative session to be a one-day job in which lawmakers take up only key bills that were on the cusp of passing during last week's legislative meltdown.

The Indianapolis Republican's remark on Wednesday came after Gov. Eric Holcomb announced earlier this week that he would call lawmakers back to the Statehouse.

A number of major bills died last week in the final hours of the session after bickering Republicans failed to come to terms. They include tax issues and providing more money for school safety.

Bosma says only critical issues that must to be dealt with this year will be on the agenda.

He also encourages fellow House Republican lawmakers to donate their special session pay to charity.
