FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- The Holiday Cab has returned to the Summit City to give rides during the holiday season to anyone who has been drinking.

The cab is free for the first 10 miles out of downtown. It will run from December 15th to January 1st. This is the 30th year for the Holiday Cab.

Fort Wayne Police Chief, Steve Reed, said the cab is saving lives by giving rides home to anyone who has been drinking.

"[It's] Just an initiative to get out there and get people home safely. Even if they think they've had too much to drink, we just don't want you driving. Just take advantage of this program, or any other program that's out there. Go out, have a good time. We just want you to get home safely," Reed said.

The Holiday Cab can be reached from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. by calling 260-426-8555.
