FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne police are searching for a woman they say is a suspect in an early morning hit-and-run at a gas station who left her baby injured in the car and a man seriously hurt Friday.
Just before 2 a.m. Friday, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to the Speedway gas station in Waynedale at 7114 Bluffton Rd. regarding a car crash with someone injured.
When officers arrived they said found a man was found pinned between two vehicles.
Officers said when medics and the Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived they were able to extracte the man.
He was taken to a local hospital where physicians said he had life-threatening injuries, according to medics.
Investigators said the female driver who they believe is involved in the crash ran away from the are before FWPD arrived.
There was a baby left in the suspect's car during the crash.
Police said the baby had minor injuries and was in a car seat.
The suspect has not yet been located, according to detectives.
Investigators believe the suspect's vehicle sped off quickly from one of the gas pumps and crashed into a man who was standing behind a vehicle that was on the lot.
This incident remains under investigation.
