FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — One man is dead after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a steel warehouse on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Thursday afternoon.
First responders in Fort Wayne were called at around 2:40 p.m. to OmniSource/Midwest Pipe & Steel at 2001 E. Pontiac St.
Allen County dispatchers said the initial call came in initially as a crash with injuries.
FWPD says by the time they arrive, employees at the facility pulled the man inside the warehouse to try and give him CPR, but he died.
After talking to witnesses at the scene officers believe this was a domestic situation.
Sgt. Sofia Rosales-Scatena with FWPD says a woman, identified as 24-year-old Jamie Marsee, drove away from the scene.
Marsee was found near Lake Avenue and Delta Boulevard in the vehicle that hit the man and was eventually taken into custody.
The suspect was located in the area of Lake and Delta in the suspect vehicle from the crash, according to police.
This incident is currently under investigation.
The name of the victim will have his identity released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
