The FWCS Career Academy Culinary Arts program will celebrate Thanksgiving by offering a free grab and go dinner from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Bill C. Anthis Center, 1200 S. Barr St.
Dinner is open to anyone interested in attending. Masks and social distancing are required while picking up meals.
This is the second year students are celebrating the holiday with the Give Back Thanksgiving event.
The meals will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and dessert.
Culinary Arts students will prepare the meals in advance, and former students will volunteer their time to serve the meals.
- St Mary’s Catholic Church
On Thanksgiving Day, November 26th St Mary’s Catholic Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Day Soup Kitchen Dinner which began in 1978.
In 2019, the Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving Day dinner served approximately 1,700 meals.
The Church is located at 1101 South Lafayette Street (corner of Lafayette and Jefferson Blvd).
Due to COVID 19.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m.
Masks required, and social distancing.
Only carryout dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No sit down meals will be served
No volunteers are needed.
No donations of desserts or food will be accepted.
Only monetary donations can be made to the Church.

- The Rescue Mission
For many years, The Rescue Mission has hosted both a traditional sit-down and carry-out meal for homeless residents and the community on Thanksgiving Day.
For the safety of residents, staff and the community, a carry-out only meal will be provided the day before the Thanksgiving Holiday; Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Thanksgiving “Blessings to Go”, a COVID-safe carry-out outreach is open to the community on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at 404 E. Washington Blvd.
There is a limit of 6 Thanksgiving carry-out meals per individual.
Free, regular to-go meal services are also available to the community on Thanksgiving Day and daily at 7 am, 12 p.m., and 5 p.m., for men, women, and children of all ages.
However, the special holiday meal will only be provided on Wednesday afternoon.
Social distancing is practiced, and masks are required.
