Hamilton, Ind. (WFFT) - Hamilton Community Schools will decide this week what tax rate a new operating referendum would be.

Superintendent Tony Cassel tells FOX 55 he is proposing a 44 cent per $100  tax. This is the same rate voters approved in 2012. That referendum expires in December.

Cassel has told FOX 55 if the referendum fails in November the district will close in May. The school board will make a final decision about the referendum tax rate on Monday.
