FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- The Girl Scout motto is "be prepared."
But nothing prepared Tanessa Sherwood for the unthinkable on Saturday morning at the Walmart on Maysville Road.
A man snatched Sherwood's cashbox from her Girl Scout table where she was selling cookies.
Her father and brother quickly hopped in their car and chased after what appeared to be two young men to no avail.
Sherwood's mother, Tessie Sherwood, says, "I was very shocked."
But all didn't end too badly for the young girl scout.
Tessie Sherwood says, "Within minutes, we had a lady going through her purse to pull out a hundred dollars."
Walmart customers flooded Sherwood's table with donations.
To top off the support, Walmart staff doubled the amount of her original earnings.
Sherwood will resume selling cookies at the storefront next weekend.
The two men have not been identified yet.
