FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A total of 31 contestants raced to fill their stomachs for Giordano's inaugural Deep Dish Pizza Challenge Tuesday.
The contestants were tasked with eating a medium deep-dish pizza, which has over 1 pound of cheese.
Assistant General Manager Ryan Fife says the restaurant hopes to continue the tradition for years to come.
“Over on our wall over there, we have a pizza wall of fame. Any contestant moving forward from today could decide to enter. We’ll have a manager step over and they’ll have a chance to beat the record," Fife said.
The winner, Danny L., managed to finish in just 11 minutes and 10 seconds.
The prize is free pizza for a year, a t-shirt saying he devoured the Deep Dish Challenge, and his picture on the Deep Dish Challenge Wall of Fame.
