FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A major company in Northeast Indiana is on a hiring spree.
On Wednesday, they filled dozens of positions.
Job-seekers packed the Fort Wayne Urban League Wednesday morning to look into positions with General Motors.
The auto company went into the day aiming to fill more than 200 openings at its Fort Wayne Plant.
And GM staff saw more people interested than they expected.
Candidates were able to complete interviews and drug tests on site, with some potentially ready to start work as early as next week.
"It just helps you get the word out. I’ve had a couple GM employees come in with their children today to get them applied for jobs," said Communications Manager Jeff Benzing. "So those things really help. And being out in the community with the Urban League and with Terra Brantley and what she’s done for us, that combination just works really well for us."
General Motors says anyone who couldn’t stop by Wednesday, but is still interested in applying for a job, can apply online.
