FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Northwest Allen County Schools will hold a forum Thursday night with several legislatures from our area.

The goal is to create a dialogue between legislators and the community as well as inform the public about current educational policy.

Topics to be discussed

  • School funding
  • Accountability
  • 21st Century education

School leaders say they are hoping policy makers see how decisions in Indianapolis are affecting schools.

"We do hope it opens the door to have a better conversation with some of our policy makers," said NACS Spokeswoman Lizette Downey, "That there are human stories that go into the reality of what those decisions, that happen at the state level, of how that looks and reverberates in the community."

The forum will be at Carroll High School Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.

If you are unable to attend the forum, teacher's associations in Allen County are hosting a question and answer session with lawmakers later this month.

The Education Town Hall will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the ISTA's Fort Wayne office, 3711 Rupp Dr., Suite 207.
