FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Fort Wayne's homeless community may be subject to frigid temperatures and the extreme elements that come with a lack of shelter or stability.
Due to their lack and further susceptibility to both physical and mental illness, people from the homeless community lose their lives every year.
Fort Wayne's Rescue Mission and Trinity English Lutheran Church are teaming up for the "Longest Night Memorial Walk" to commemorate the lives of the city's homeless who have passed.
The name prompts community members to consider those who are less fortunate on Dec 21, both longest night of the year and first day of winter, which members of the homeless community have to often endure.
The Rescue Mission and Trinity English Lutheran Church welcome all who are able to attend the free event, and encourage attendees to bring a flashlight or candle to carry.
