FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A woman who led police on a high-speed chase last week was identified by the coroner.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, just after 9:30 p.m. officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were at the Regency Inn at 1004 W. Coliseum Blvd, for an unrelated call when a woman who appeared to be drunk got in her car and sped away from police.
The woman drove east on Coliseum Boulevard as police tried to pull her over.
She crashed into a total of five vehicles from the time she left the parking lot of the hotel until crashing into a utility pole near the intersection of Coldwater Road and East Coliseum Boulevard.
The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries where she later died.
The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 26-year-old Sierria Shampree Sanders of Fort Wayne.
Sanders' cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries due to motor vehicle crash and the manner of death is an accident.
This is the 22nd traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2020.
