FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Fort Wayne Police Department is scheduled to hold a news conference Saturday morning after protests Friday lead them to use tear gas and pepper spray in order to disperse crowds in the streets downtown.
Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Fort Wayne Friday to protest in the death of George Floyd who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis.
FWPD released the following statement Saturday afternoon in regards to Friday's protests.

FWPD has scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. Saturday to address what happened Friday night.
They are also expected to announce their plans for a second protest, which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
The protest is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
