FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Homicide detectives in Fort Wayne announced Friday an arrest was made in connection to a fatal shooting that left a man dead in July 2019.
The Fort Wayne Police Department arrested 27-year-old Demetre Payton in connection to the July 27, 2019 shooting death of Jamarcus Kindred.
Police say Kindred was found in a parking lot after he was called in as a "man down" at the intersection of Lafayette and Williams streets.
When officers arrived they found him suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Detectives said a murder arrest warrant for Payton was issued and served on Thursday afternoon.
Payton was served a warrant at the Allen County Jail where is was currently being held on an unrelated gun charge.
