FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne Police responded to an abandonment call and discovered a reptile on Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday Fort Wayne police were called to the 5700 block of Meadows Drive and were met by a small alligator.

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control Spokeswoman Holly Pasquinelli says that animal control was called in to safely handle the reptile.

Pasquinelli says they are reaching out to other shelters that typically handle alligators because it is against city ordinance to have an exotic animal such as an alligator.
