Fort Wayne police arrest suspect in July 4th shooting

Avila is charged with attempted murder, burglary, and aggravated battery.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Police today arrested a man accused of wounding another man in a shooting at a Fort Wayne apartment complex on July 4th. 

Officers say they arrested 22-year-old Carlos Avila at a home on Kimberly Drive around 5 p.m. 

Avila is charged with attempted murder, burglary, and aggravated battery. 

Investigators say Avila shot 20-year-old Javis Asher at Baldwin Creek Apartments. Asher was treated for life-threatening injuries.
