FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Police announced they have arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting early Saturday.
The Fort Wayne Homicide Division announced Monday they arrested 26-year-old Timothy Hall Jr. in connection to the shooting death of 34-year-old Manuel Mendez.
Officers say after the weekend shooting in the 2100 block of Gilmore Drive, Hall was arrested after leading police on a short chase.
During the pursuit, police said Hall crashed his car twice, which lead to his quick arrest.
Detectives said Hall had a 2-year-old child in the vehicle with him at the time of the chase and arrest.
FWPD said the child was not injured after the incident.
Investigators said the incident began after Hall allegedly shot Mendez after he confronted Hall about pointing a gun someone because they didn’t want him drinking and driving with a child in his car.
When Mendez confronted Hall, he was shot, officer said.
Hall was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, neglect of a dependent and carrying a handgun without a permit.
