FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Police have arrested a man after a Monday morning standoff on the city's southside.
The Fort Wayne Police Department was called to the 4200 block of Weisser Park Ave. just before 7 a.m. Monday regarding a man armed with a gun who they say was having mental health issues.
FWPD arrested 38-year-old Tyrone A. White Jr. on a preliminary charge of unlawful possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon and for having an outstanding arrest warrant.
Officers say those inside the house who were with White were able to get out of the house during the standoff.
Police say White did not answer calls from police and refused to leave the house.
Police say they used distraction devices and White surrendered shortly after that.
He was taken to the Allen County Jail on the outstanding warrant.
