FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Police say a man was found dead in the street after receiving several calls about gunshots in the area before they found him late Thursday night.
Shortly after 11:15 p.m. officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to the 4600 block of Werling Drive for an unknown problem.
After arriving at that area, officers said they found a man in the street with apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers say they were told by dispatchers that several callers reported a man in the street on Werling Drive and reported heard gunshots just before they saw him.
Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Investigators say they are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to help determine what occurred and identify a potential suspect(s).
The identity of the man will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin.
