FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Mark Bloom's view is from the fire escape of the Beckman Lawson law firm in downtown Fort Wayne for Friday night.
The law firm sponsors the bed race for three rivers festival but also raises money for local non-profits along with it.
Bloom said he wanted to do something unique to help bring in some cash.
"I came up with the idea that if i got friends to donate $750 that I'd spend the night on the fire escape and my friends thought it was a good idea apparently," Bloom said. "We've raised almost fifteen hundred at this point."
Bloom will spend the night on the fire escape as promised.
He has a bucket to lower down to visitors below to collect any money that they might want to add to the cause.
He says he might even catch some shut eye if things slow down a little.
"I'm going to have some friends as I said stop by and donate and I hope others will come by and see what's going on and maybe drop some coins or cash in the bucket and help support the rescue mission and what I'm doing out here," Bloom said. "I hope people keep my busy. i hope people come out and talk to me."
Bloom says at the end of the day him spending the night on the fire escape is really about raising money for local people in need.
And he says he'd like to breach that two thousand dollar mark for those at the rescue mission.
"It's hot, it's about 92 degrees up here right now, but if you said Mark, spend the night on the fire escape it's 92 degrees but you're going to raise fifteen hundred dollars, I'd take that deal any day of the week," Bloom said. "Especially for a great cause."
If you want to stop by Bloom is located at 201 West Wayne Street.
He'll be there until 9 a.m.
If you want to donate but can't visit him you can donate online at www.therescuemission.net/bedrace.
