FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Businesses across Fort Wayne came together Thursday to celebrate the Summit City and what it means to be part of “The 260.”
Mayor Tom Henry proclaimed the first-ever 260 Day to be celebrated on Feb. 6, 2020, back in January.
Fort Wayne businesses offered special promotions today to celebrate the 260 area code that we share.
“We would not be as successful as we are here in Fort Wayne without the collaboration of all our businesses,” said Bridgette McCue, Earth Adventures Unlimited.
“It's all about the community,” said John Ambriole, First & Wilkerson Designs. “It's about not being just one specific thing. We are a region, so it celebrates everybody.”
Citilink assisted Fort Wayne citizens getting to and from 260 Day festivities with discounted all-day passes for $2.60.
“When I ride the bus I see a lot of people who struggle, and it is good for them to be able to save this money,” said Kylee Wagner, Citilink Marketing Manager. “They save 60 or 40 cents on a pass that they can spend on something else, or they can spend that on another pass another day.”
Citilink was especially thankful to provide discounted rates on a day that weather made travel difficult.
“Today’s weather was a little yucky, but we are getting past it,” Wagner said. “Our drivers are really good about getting through these weather conditions.”
