FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- Mayor Tom Henry and Fort Wayne UNITED unveiled a new outreach video in an effort to raise community awareness about the high homicide rate affecting black men.
The video highlights that issue and also serves as a call to action for the public to come together and provide positive opportunities for black men and boys. Mayor Tom Henry says, he hopes the video encourages people of all races to become volunteers and make Fort Wayne a safe, positive environment for the youth.
"Whether it's an educational opportunity, whether it's social opportunities or problems or challenges, employment challenges. There's a number of areas that they're trying to address, that need help from the community, that need volunteers to help them implement those specific challenges," said Henry.
Fort Wayne UNITED is a mayoral initiative started by Henry in 2016. To get invovled, click here.
