FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- A man is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head in the city's southeast side late Saturday night.
Fort Wayne Police responded to the 1900 block of Drexel Avenue around 11:15 p.m. after witnesses said a man was shot in the head.
Witnesses told police the man was being driven to the hospital in a personal vehicle.
As officers were responding they were flagged down by the people inside the vehicle at the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and Colerick Street.
Officers found the victim in the backseat of the car with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say they found evidence confirming the shooting happened on Drexel Avenue.
They were on scene speaking with potential witnesses but no arrests have been made.
It was the first of two shootings in Fort Wayne overnight.
