With help from the Fort Wayne Parks Department, theatergoers will be able to enjoy the shows in a socially-distanced environment, with only 500 of the theatre's 2,571 seats available during the shows.
Civic Theatre Executive Director Phil Colglazier says the Foellinger Theatre makes sense for what people were saying they wanted.
"When we were looking at the situation with COVID, we came up with a thought, the idea of coming outside where people are more comfortable," Colglazier said. "We did a survey and that’s when we immediately went to the parks department and said what about this, what about this? And they opened their arms and let us proceed."
Tickets for both productions go on sale July 1 at 10 a.m.
Shows for Legally Blonde will take place Aug. 7-9 and for 1776, shows will run from Sept. 12, 13, 18-20.
