VAN WERT, Ohio (WFFT) —The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a woman dead and four others injured on Friday morning.
State Troopers said the crash occurred at 7:40 a.m. Friday at the intersection of State Route 118 and Wren Landeck Road.
Investigators said a 2012 Dodge Journey was traveling westbound on Wren Landeck Road approaching to turn onto S.R. 118.
Troopers said the driver of the Dodge failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Wren Landeck and S.R. 118 when the vehicle entered the intersection collided with a 2005 Honda Accord.
Both vehicles traveled off the northwest side of the intersection striking a utility pole with the Dodge rolled onto its side, according to investigators.
OSHP said the driver and a 14-year-old suffered minor injuries and transported to Van Wert Health.
An 8-year-old suffered serious injuries and flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Troopers said 46-year-old Mubenga “Benita” Mbombo from Lexington, Kentucky died from the crash.
They said the driver of the Honda had minor injuries and was transported to Van Wert Health.
S.R. 118 was closed for four hours, according to investigators.
The said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt and they do not believe impairment was a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
