Family and dog escape house fire

A family is safe after their home caught fire Tuesday morning.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - A family is safe after their home caught fire Tuesday morning.

Firefighters with the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to 2225 Vance Avenue.

The first crew found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the house in the living room.

Two adults, a child, and a family dog were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived.

There was moderate fire damage and minor smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
