HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (WFFT) — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle accident that occurred early Sunday morning in Blackford County.
Conservation officers say at approximately 3:30 a.m., 56-yer-old Todd P. Clancy of Fairmount, was riding in a Polaris Ranger side-by-side vehicle when it rolled over in a field outside of Hartford City.
Police say Clancy was seriously injured in the accident and was transported by a family member to IU Health Blackford Hospital.
From there, he was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was being treated for severe neck and back injuries.
Investigators say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
Clancy was not wearing a helmet or seat belt at the time of the accident.
Indiana Conservation Officers want to remind the public to not ride off-road vehicles while impaired, and of the importance of wearing protective equipment.
