FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne police say they have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect from a January shooting where a man was found dead near railroad tracks.
FWPD announced Wednesday that a murder warrant was issued for 28-year-old Sedrick Williams in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Marlon Kimbrough on Jan. 7 near Meyer Road and Oxford Street.
The Allen County coroner reported Kimbrough died of multiple gunshot wounds.
He was the city’s first homicide of 2020.
Investigators say Williams was a suspect early on in the investigation and was arrested shortly after the homicide on an unrelated parole violation.
They say Williams was picked up by U.S. Marshals and has been in jail since mid-January.
Fort Wayne Homicide Detectives said this gave them time to gather evidence which eventually lead to his arrest.
Police say Williams will be served with the warrant and eventually be brought back to Allen County to face the charges.
