FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Police say a man is dead after he was shot and found dead inside of a car that crashed into a parked car late Tuesday night.
Just before 10:45 p.m. officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2300 block of John Street regarding a shots fired car, followed by a car crash.
When officers arrived they said a man was found in the driver seat of a crashed Toyota Corolla.
The victim had multiple apparent gunshot wounds and when paramedics arrived to the scene he was pronounced dead.
FWPD says the shooting happened while the man was inside the car, which then crashed into a vehicle that was parked on John Street.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene looking for additional details.
Investigators say they do not have a suspect at this time.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Johnny Mathes Foy III of Fort Wayne.
The coroner determined Foy's cause of death to be a gunshot wound of the chest and the manner of death is homicide.
Foy is the 32nd homicide victim for Allen County in 2021.
