NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WFFT) -- The East Allen County School District is looking at ways to keep its students safe.
School board leaders went through projects in a recent feasibility study, but say many projects will rely on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and uncertainty is high with the 2021 school year.
"Our slogan is 'Dream it, Do It', so we want students to dream the opportunities they have in coming to East Allen," says Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Kirby Stahly.
The study showed more than $30 million would need to be allocated to repairing roofs in almost all the schools in the district
"We're looking at a long term roofing plan, 20-year roofing plan, HVAC mechanical systems for air conditioning," he says.
The main problem brought up Tuesday evening by EACS board members is air quality, something they say should and would be a top priority.
"When we start to look at the newest buildings, people thing they are new but some are over 20 years old," says Stahly.
