FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- A man is dead after Fort Wayne police say he ran a red light following a brief pursuit early Friday morning.
The crash happened just before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Vance Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard.
Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer John Chambers says police responded to a domestic dispute call at a home on Kenwood Avenue at 3:46 a.m.
Chambers says the man wasn't at the home when police arrived but they saw him drive by in a vehicle. He says officers attempted to pull the vehicle over but it kept going at a high rate of speed.
Chambers says they pursued the vehicle briefly but called it off because of the suspect's speed.
The vehicle kept going and ran a red light at Coliseum, where it collided with a truck that was heading northbound, Chambers said.
The driver of the vehicle died at the scene. The truck driver had minor injuries.
Police are on scene investigating the crash.
The Allen County Coroner's Office will release the driver's name once his family has been notified.
As of 8:15 a.m. Friday, the intersection reopened to traffic, according to police.
