FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – A driver crashed into a liquor store leaving one person seriously injured.

Fort Wayne Police responded to Belmont Beverage on East Tillman Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say 59-year-old Mona McCoy crashed her SUV into the building, injuring an employee inside.

According to court records McCoy told police " I just pressed the brakes and the vehicle just kept revving, revving right into the building. I don't know what happened, I think my brakes failed."

Officers say 56-year-old Kimberly Lauer was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.

McCoy also told officersthat "I knew I should have just stayed home. You know how sometimes you just need a bottle of wine at the end of the night? That's what I was gonna get."

She told investigators that she only had one shot prior to driving.

McCoy was charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
