FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The Headwaters Park ice skating rink closed for the season at the end of business Sunday.

Park leaders told WFFT more than 25,000 people went on the ice this season, that's the third most on record.

They credit the pavilion over the rink.

The ice rink closes the first weekend in March every year.

"We've to to let the rink thaw out, dismantle the rink, store everything, put it away, so we can get ready for our festival season that begins here in just over six weeks," said Geoff Paddock, Headwaters Park executive director.

The ice rink is scheduled to reopen November 17, 2018.
