FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Police are investigating a car crash that left one man dead and another injured near the downtown library Sunday.
Just after 4 p.m. Sunday, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported crash on Washington Boulevard between Webster and Ewing streets downtown.
Officers reportedly were told multiple came in that a small SUV crashed a tree across from the Allen County Public Library.
Crews with the Fort Wayne Fire Department say they had to extricate two victims who trapped inside the vehicle.
Investigators say one victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
They say it is too early in the investigation to identify any contributing factors to this crash.
The name of the victim will be identified at a later time by the Allen County Coroner's Office.
This crash remains under investigation by authorities in Allen County.
