DNR investigating after body found in St. Marys River

The Indiana Department Natural Resources is investigating a water rescue.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The Fort Wayne Police Department and the Indiana Department Natural Resources is investigating after a body was found inside a tent in the St. Marys River Friday afternoon. 

Officers responded around 1:15 p.m. to the river near Superior and Spy Run Ave. That's near the Three Rivers Apartments. The tent was entangled in debris when a passing boat discovered it.

The fire department's water rescue team was able to free the body and remove it from the river at the Michael's Street boat ramp. 

The Allen County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death, as well as the identity of the victim. 

The incident is under investigation.
