HUNTERTOWN, Ind. (WFFT) — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle accident that injured two girls Sunday afternoon.
Just before 3 p.m., first responders in Allen County were called to the 17000 block of Coldwater Road for an ORV crash.
Investigators say two girls were riding a side-by-side ORV on private property when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll.
Officers say neither girl was wearing a helmet, safety gear, or any type of seatbelt or safety harness at the time of the accident.
Both girls were transported by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
State law requires anyone under 18 years old operating or riding on an off-road vehicle to wear a DOT-approved helmet.
It is also illegal to allow a minor to operate an ORV without wearing a DOT-approved helmet.
