FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the girl who was killed after an early morning hit-and-run crash near downtown on Easter.
On Sunday just before 1:30 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a crash with possible injuries in the area of Lafayette and Clinton streets at the intersection of McKinnie Avenue.
When first responders arrived at the scene they found two vehicles involved but those in the other car involved ran away from the scene, according to witnesses.
The second vehicle had four people who were all injured, including a teenage girl who was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The coroner identified the girl as 17-year-old Samayah Nirobie Barker from Monroe Township in Adams County.
Samayah's cause of death was determined to be blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash and the manner of death is an accident.
Samayah Barker is the 13th fatal motor vehicle crash victim in Allen County for 2021.
Police have not yet identified the two people who ran away from the crash.
This crash remains under investigation by authorities in Allen County.
