COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WFFT) - The Columbia City Police Department received a grant from Steel Dynamics to purchase new body cameras.
The newer models replace the old ones which were first generation and lacked the technology needed for the modern age.
The bodycam features a better camera and 5 microphones, which Chief of Police Scott Leatherman says will help improve their cases in court.
Leatherman said, "It keeps things from being out of context because you read something and someone testifies, but if somebody in a jury or a prosecutor or a defense attorney can see exactly what happened, it makes it that much better."
All officers in the department are equipped with the new body cams.
