NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WFFT) - Coming to a new place takes some adjustment.
Yolanda Lopez only moved into the area a couple of years ago but said her community has helped ease the process.
"The kids really enjoyed it. They had a lot of fun," Lopez said.
This is the first "Brunch with Santa" put together by the Adams Township Trustee's Office.
It's also kicking off the holiday season for the Lopez family.
For every family who attended, every child walked away with a gift. That’s not all.
They also got a meal to thanks to County Line Church of God, the local McDonalds, Come as You Are Community Church and Transitional Health.
"It makes me feel really good to help people. It's part of our mission at the church. It's really restoring communities one life at a time," volunteer Todd Hockameyer said.
That's exactly what Adams Township Trustee, Denita Washington, is trying to do since the holidays can be a stressful time for a lot of families.
"I think for us, because we do service at risk, a lot of times family and people, we wanted to come together and make sure if they don't get anything else, they can get one gift from us," Washington said.
