FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - A brother and sister were arrested early Monday morning after a car chase.

The arrest occurred near the intersection of Clinton and Medical Park Drive in Fort Wayne around 12:30 AM.

Fort Wayne Police were searching for 18-year-old Damontre Burnett after they issued warrants for his arrest for kidnapping and burglary.

Police attempted to pull over a vehicle belonging to Damontre’s sister, 21-year-old Shardae Burnett. Damontre was the passenger in the vehicle at the time.

The two led Fort Wayne Police on a car chase, during which Damontre reportedly threw a gun out of the vehicle that was eventually recovered.

The Burnetts eventually turned down a dead end road where police were able to arrest them.

Damontre is being charged with kidnapping, burglary, and carry a handgun without a license and Shardae is being charged with resisting law enforcement, assisting a criminal, and driving without a license.

They're both being held at the Allen County Jail.
